"A state government push for 93,000 extra dwellings to be built on the Sunshine Coast by 2031 will be challenged by the local council.
The council's submission to the draft South East Queensland Regional Plan makes it clear that planning should be based around a carrying capacity rather than an arbitrary figure.
Planning head councillor Russell Green said yesterday that the council would challenge the state government to be stronger and firmer on development and to base growth on the capacity of the land to meet the objective of a vibrant, green and diverse region.
