When NIMBY interests meet infill needs the results aren't pretty. When infill meets established neighborhoods, it gets ugly as well. The problem that established neighborhoods primarily populated by relatively wealthy residents butts up against is that the neighborhood design that they are trying so desperately to protect, is not the type of neighborhood design that's conducive to a 'dense, urban environment' that they claim to be promoting. [...] This NIMBY mentality forces 'infill' into one of two areas, neither of which is ideal for residential development.
